Creatures of the Clay: From Solid to Hollow– 2-day workshop

  In this 2-day workshop Jai will lead participants through sculpting animals using the technique of building as solid forms, then hollowing them out. On the first day of the workshop, the animals are built as solid forms, Jai will go over anatomy, the position of the animal and any technical challenges that might come up. Then on the second day, the animals are cut into sections, hollowed, and reassembled, followed by adding textures and details. Focus will be given to the details of the animal such as fur/feather/scale textures, facial features, and how to add horns/antlers/wings.

         Outcome:

Everyone will have their own fully built animal sculpture, about 6-8” tall, hollowed out and ready to be bisque fired. Jai will go over your options for surface treatments such as glaze or underglaze at the end of this workshop.
